The Hero Botanical
Boswellia frereana
Sanaag highlands · Hand-tapped · Rarely produced
There are around twenty species in the Boswellia genus, and the world trades mostly in two of them. Frereana is not one of those two. It is harvested in small quantities from trees rooted in bare limestone cliffs, and its aromatic profile, earthy, faintly musky, lifted by citrus, is distinct enough that people who think they dislike frankincense often change their minds.

Rarity is worthless without proof.
Anybody can print “frankincense” on a carton. Very few can tell you which species, from which region, tapped in which season, and show you the paper that says so. Before a single kilogram enters a NEFER batch, we require the following from our supplier, every time, per batch, with no exceptions.
- Botanical name & INCI
- Plant part and extraction method
- Country and region of origin
- Batch number and traceability
- Certificate of Analysis
- GC/MS chromatography report
- Allergen declaration
- Safety Data Sheet
- Microbiological data
- Heavy metal / contaminant data
- Storage conditions & shelf life
- Harvesting and sustainability information

More resin is not better skincare.
It would be easy to advertise a percentage and let you assume higher is better. We will not. The concentration of Boswellia frereana in our creams is set by our safety assessor on the basis of the finished formulation and its intended use, not by a marketing department. What makes the product exceptional is the botanical, the formulation, the texture and the discipline together.
